One more comment
One member suggests one or two trips a year to local historic sites, (between the June trips).
Great idea. Anybody interested in organizing a trip? We talked about returning to Eureka in the fall….

1984: The Robidoux inscription cast
“Members of the Utah Westerners say they are a far cry from the toasty-dry, staid historians who taught many of them in school. The Westerners say they are more interested in history brought to life and history filled with fascination and intrigue, but they are no less interested in facts.”
That’s just one quote from an article printed in Oct 4, 1984, in the Deseret News. It tells all about the club in those good old days and quotes president Bud Rusho–with a picture of Bud presenting a fiberglass replica of the Robidoux inscription made by the Utah Westerners to the Museum of Natural History.

SUGGESTIONS FOR MAKING WESTERNERS BETTER:
A better speaker system for the people in the back.
A way and means of getting to know each other better–one large family unit instead of small groups of selected friends
Make a better effort to encourage old members to become acquainted with new members. This could begin with admonitions to board members!
Create a website, share photo materials
Re-issue lapel pin and/or bolo tie and buckle
There are a number of us who do NOT have e-mail. Please send communication by slow mail.
Work hard on programs. How about having a theme for the year or half a year?
At times, it would be good to learn more about our wonderful members.
WHAT PEOPLE LIKE ABOUT WESTERNERS AND WANT TO KEEP
Monthly meetings and history presentations
Field trips are wonderful
Keep traditions alive (Alta Club, jackets, etc.)
Dinners are great; speakers are good
I like the meals/service is great, rolls are delicious, salads are fresh, main dish is varied. I like steaks the best.
Field trips. We need new members to participate sooner rather than later.
The association with others is a key benefit.
Meeting at the Alta Club is important.
